The device sports the model name Taimen, which is tipped to to be the codename for one of the three Pixel 2 device Google is said to be working on

Google has already confirmed that the Pixel 2 will come later this year, and one of the devices has been spotted on Geekbench. The device has the model name Taimen, which is believed to be one of the three Pixel devices that Google is is planning to launch. The listing suggests that the phone witll sport 4GB of RAM, and will run Android O. The device is also tipped to be powered by a Qualcomm octa-core SoC clocked at 1.90Ghz. The device scored 1804 and 6248 on single core and multi core tests. Since these scores are too high for a mid-tier chipset, the SoC might be the Snapdragon 835.

That being said, having a 4GB of RAM on a flagship phone may seem a little odd in 2017, as upcoming phones like the OnePlus 5 may push the boundaries to offer 8GB of RAM. However, we have seen that it is still an ample amount of RAM as newer phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 also use 4GB RAM . Besides this, there is no othe information about the specifications of the device.

Earlier reports suggest that the Taiman might be the third phone in the Pixel range, with a bigger footprint than the other two Pixel 2 smartphones. The other two phones are rumoured to be codenamed Walleye and Muskie. While the information about Google’s upcoming devices is quite sparse, it is safe to assume that  all three devices are likely to carry high-end specifications. It is also rumoured that this year Google will makes its devices waterproof, just like all major flagships. There also has been news about the company dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack and adopt audio via USB Type-C only. However, that seems unlikely as when the company launched the current generation Pixel smartphones, it made sure the inclusion of the 3.5mm jack was well publicised through its TVCs; a clever snub in the face of the jack-less Apple iPhone 7.
