Yet another wondrous device we will never see this side of the land of the rising sun – the Windows 7 and Symbian dual-booting Fujitsu LOOX F-07C phone. That’s right, full-fledged Windows 7 running on a 4-inch phone, with a 1.2GHz Intel Atom CPU onboard, with Hyper-Threading, to power the x86 side of things. No details about the processor on the Symbian side of things, and for now, even the version of the OS is unknown.

The phone can apparently switch quickly and seamlessly between Windows 7 (32-bit) Home Premium and Symbian. It will power down to Symbian when battery charge is low. It has 1GB of RAM (DDR 400MHz) onboard, and even a 32GB SSD for storage! Apart from a 4-inch 1,024×600 pixel screen and a QWERTY keyboard, there is a 5MP rear camera, and a front facing VGA camera. It also offers GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HSPA, and Bluetooth connectivity.

[RELATED_ARTICLE]In Symbian mode, things get a little more bare functional, with just Bluetooth and Infra-Red access, no Wi-Fi. The solid state drive is also meant only for the Windows 7 side, with Symbian having to use microSD card, up to 32GB, for storage – a 2GB card comes bundled. It is a bit hefty, at 218 grams, and nearly 20 millimetres in thickness. But then. it probably has a fan onboard as well.

The phone is priced at about $860, which is roughly Rs. 39,000 – no niche/boutique pricing here – unlike the Toshiba Libretto W100, though that admittedly had some very serious hardware onboard. The Fujitsu LOOX F-07C will be released sometime in June in Japan.
