Exynos 9 promo hints at dual-camera on upcoming Galaxy smartphone
HIGHLIGHTS

The Exynos 8895, which is likely to power the Galaxy S8 smartphone, has support for dual ISPs to facilitate dual cameras.

Samsung’s Exynos twitter handle recently posted an image of the Exynos 8895 SoC powering dual cameras, sparking more fuel into the rumour mill. The tweet suggests that the upcoming SoC can handle dual ISPs so you could “take great pictures”. The Exynos 8895, which is rumored to be the successor of last year’s Exynos 8890, is likely to make its debut on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. The upcoming SoC is manufactured using Samsung’s proprietary FinFET process. According to Samsung, it offers 27% more performance and 40% less power consumption compared to its predecessor.

The Samsung Exynos 8895 is an octa-core chip housing two quad-core clusters in big.LITTLE architecture. It uses four custom Samsung Mongoose cores with peak frequency rated at 2.5GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores designed by ARM at 1.7GHz. The SoC comprises Mali-G71 MP20 GPU, and has an LTE Gigabit modem on-board. On the memory front, the SoC will support LPDDR4X RAM memory, UFS 2.0 storage and 4K recording at 120fps.

From what we know till now, Samsung will be announcing two different variants of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. One variant will be powered by its own Exynos 8895 SoC and the other will be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. The main feature this year is rumored to be the display and previous reports suggest that the S8 and S8+ will have bezel-less 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays, respectively.

The phone is supposed to have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, along with support for microSD cards. The device may also feature an iris scanner and include earphones tuned by AKG. We can expect the upcoming smartphone to be dust and water resistant, and support wireless charging like its predecessor.
