HIGHLIGHTS

Asus' new selfie-phone has 13MP front-facing camera with laser autofocus and 88 degree wideangle. The Zenfone Selfie also has 13MP rear camera.

At the Computex 2015, Asus has officially announced its Zenfone Selfie smartphone featuring 13MP rear and front cameras. Both the cameras come with laser autofocus, similar to the likes of the LG G3 and LG G4. There's no word on the pricing and availability of the smartphone as yet.

The Asus Zenfone Selfie runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with a custom UI. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core SoC and features Adreno 405 GPU. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch full HD display. Like the Asus Zenfone 2, Asus will be selling the selfie-phone with different variants – 3GB and 4GB RAM, and 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage. The main highlight of the smartphone is the camera. The front-facing 13MP camera has f2.2 aperture, 24mm wide-angle lens and 88 degrees wide angle support. The rear camera has f2.0 aperture and 28mm lens. The phone also supports an optional Swing attachment that allows you to take more effective selfies as well as use the attachment as a kickstand. The 13MP rear and front camera combination was previously seen on the likes of Micromax Canvas Selfie and HTC Desire Eye. Sony has already launched its next gen selfie-phone Xperia C4. Like the previous Zenfones, Asus' new selfie-phone is likely to be priced aggressively with an emphasis on the emerging markets such as India.

Apart from the new Zenfone Selfie, Asus has also announced a new wearable. Called the ZenWatch 2, the new Asus wearable features Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, a Qualcomm SoC, an AMOLED display with a curved Gorilla Glass 3 protection and has an improved water and dust resistance body. The original ZenWatch had an IP55 rating, while in the ZenWatch 2 has a higher IP67 rating for superior water submersion protection.
