HIGHLIGHTS

Recent tweet says BlackBerry’s first Android smartphone, 'Venice', is on its way to US; touted for launch with AT&T

BlackBerry has been rumoured to be making an Android smartphone for a while now. Midnight yesterday, Evan Blass tweeted saying that the BlackBerry Venice slider is on its way, strengthening the rumours. He had also posted an image along with his tweet, which revealed an Android keyboard on a BlackBerry Passport-esque keyboard. Engadget later posted an update saying that it is the BlackBerry Passport, with the screen modified to give a glimpse of what the BlackBerry Venice might look like.

BlackBerry Venice is rumoured to be a slider device, featuring a 5.4" screen. It will also have an 18-megapixel main camera, and run on a 1.8GHz hexa-core processor. It was earlier teased in the Mobile World Congress, although further details are yet to be given out. For BlackBerry fanboys and physical keyboard enthusiasts who prefer the Android platform, this might just be the perfect combination device.

We wait for further news and confirmation on the BlackBerry Venice, and hope that they get it right to lure some of its user base back.
