BlackBerry to launch 2 new Android devices in 2016
HIGHLIGHTS

News of the 2 new Android powered BB devices has been confirmed by CEO John Chen himself.

After the launch of its first Android OS powered smartphone Priv, BlackBerry is looking to launch two new Android powered devices in 2016. In an Interview with The National, BB CEO John Chen confirmed that two mid-ranged Android smartphones will launch this year. Although Chen did not splurge many details about the devices, he said that one of the smartphones will have a physical keyboard, while the other will be an all-touchscreen device.

BlackBerry Priv, the company's first foray into the world of Android, was an attempt by the business phonemaker to revive its dipping smartphone sales. The move though did not prove to be very fruitful for the company and they failed to meet sales expectations. According to a quarterly guidance report by the company, BlackBerry managed to sell 600,000 handsets including BB10 powered devices, as compared to a forecast of 850,000 units.
