Apple may skip iPhone 19 to launch iPhone 20 for iPhone’s 20th anniversary: Report

Apple has just unveiled the iPhone 17 series and now the company has been working on a series of new devices. As per the latest report, Apple is planning to shake up its smartphone roadmap. The report cited senior analyst Heo Moo-yeol, suggesting that Apple’s decision is similar to its 2017 strategy, where it introduced the iPhone X to celebrate a decade of iPhone. It further added that the upcoming iPhone 20 is expected to debut in the first half of 2027, breaking Apple’s traditional September launch cycle that’s been consistent since the iPhone 5 era.

The company may release more than one device in 2027. Along with the iPhone 20, the company may launch the new iPhone 18e. It will not be part of its premium series, but will instead cater to the affordable segment. Apple is rumoured to unveil the rest of the iPhone 20 lineup in 2027, including the iPhone 20 Air, iPhone 20 Pro, and iPhone 20 Pro Max. It is anticipated that the second-generation iPhone Fold, which is anticipated to replace the first foldable iPhone when it launches in 2026, will make its debut around the same time.

Meanwhile, Apple is expected to discontinue the standard iPhone 18 model in 2026, focussing instead on the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and the next iPhone Air, as well as the company’s first foldable phone.
It must be noted that these are just early leaks and we may have to wait for September 2026 as Apple may organise its next hardware in that month. Previously, the leak suggested that Apple is planning a split launch strategy with iPhone 18 launching in 2027.
