According to rumours, this year will be a little different because the company plans to introduce a rebranded lineup with better device positioning. It may include the iPhone 17 as the standard variant, the iPhone 17 Plus being replaced by an ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, and the iPhone 17 Pro featuring a good design change. Not only that, but the company may release its first-ever Ultra variant, replacing the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max (Ultra) is expected to debut as the top-of-the-line variant in the iPhone 17 series. Based on rumours, the iPhone 17 launch event may occur between September 11 and 13. However, the company has yet to confirm the date officially.

According to the leaked renders, Apple may introduce a new camera island on the back that appears similar to Google Pixel devices. It will likely house the triple-camera setup with the LiDAR sensor and flash on the right.
iPhone 17 Pro Max specifications (expected)
Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max or Ultra may come with a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device could be powered by the A19 Pro chipset and pack up to 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Additionally, the brand is likely to introduce a dedicated vapour cooling chamber and a graphite layer for thermal management.
In terms of camera, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to make a big leap from its predecessor as it may get a 48 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The handset is also said to have a 48MP primary shooter and a 48MP ultrawide lens. On the front, the device could get a 24MP selfie camera—a significant upgrade from the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 12MP selfie camera.
