Alcatel has announced a new smartphone christened the Alcatel Flash 2. The smartphone will launch in seven Asian markets including India. The other markets include Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. There is no information available about the pricing, but the device will go on sale in India via Flipkart from October 20. In the other markets, it will be sold through online retailer Lazada. It will be available in Indonesia from September 29, in Vietnam from October 13, in the Philippines from September 22, Malaysia from October 15, and in Thailand from September 25.
The Alcatel Flash 2 sports a 5-inch HD display with a pixel density of 294 ppi. It comes with a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz and coupled with 2GB of RAM. The device offers 16GB built-in storage expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. It has a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, Samsung S5K3M2 ISOCELL sensor, support for 1080p video recording, and f/2.0 aperture. There is also a 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. Alactel’s new device is 4G LTE compatible and packs in a 3,000mAh battery. It runs on Android Lollipop v5.1 out of the box.
The smartphone is the third in Alcatel's Flash series after the launch of Alcatel Flash and Flash Plus. The first smartphone in the series, Flash, was launched by the company last year and was touted as the selfie phone. The phone has a 5MP front shooter along with 13MP rear shooter with LED flash. The device has a 5.5-inch HD display. It is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM. It offers 8GB built-in storage with microSD card expansion up to 32GB. The package is powered by a 3200mAh battery. The company has also launched a smartwatch, Alcatel One Touch Watch, in India last month. It comes with a 1.22-inch display and is available via Flipkart for Rs. 7,999.
