New rules from September 1: Air travel eases, LPG prices revised and ITR late fees kick in

As the calendar month changes, so do the rules in the country. These changes directly affect how you manage your expenses. September is no different, as starting today, the Indian market is all set to see some major changes in the aviation and LPG pricing. Not only that but the month also attracts ITR penalties for the users who forgot to file them. Some of the changes that we’ll discuss below will ease a process that used to feel unnecessarily slow, while others may or may not give you relaxation in your budget. Flying out of India is about to get a little smoother, as starting today, passengers will no longer need a physical stamp on their boarding pass at immigration counters. You can simply show your boarding pass on your phone, or a printed copy, and move through.
The Bureau of Immigration made this change to speed up exit checks and cut queues at airports. It sounds like a small tweak, but for anyone who has stood in a slow-moving line before a flight, it should mean less waiting and one less step to worry about before boarding.

LPG price
For households using cooking gas, August 31 was the deadline for Aadhaar-based e-KYC verification on LPG connections. If that was missed, then the supply or subsidy on your domestic cylinder could be affected going forward.
Moreover, oil companies also review LPG rates on the first day of every month. While last month brought some relief for the commercial LPG buyers, this month the oil companies have hiked the prices again. Do note that the prices remain the same for domestic household LPG.
ITR filing
On the tax front, August 31 was the deadline for taxpayers with non-audit business or professional income to file returns for the assessment year. This mainly applies to individuals whose accounts do not need auditing.
However, if you’ve missed the deadline, then you can still file ITR with late fees. For the users whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakh, the late fee is just Rs 1,000, while for those who fall into the other category, the late fee is Rs 5,000.
