Meta AI is getting video editing capabilities: All you need to know

Meta has announced that it is adding video editing capabilities to Meta AI, making it easier than ever to edit short videos using artificial intelligence. This new AI-powered feature is now available on the Meta AI app, the Meta.AI website and the Edits app in the US and over a dozen other countries.

With this update, you can now edit short-form videos using preset AI prompts that can change your outfit, background, style and more. You don’t need any video editing skills—just upload a video and choose from over 50 different editing prompts to apply to a 10-second clip. And for a limited time, it’s completely free.

“Inspired by our Movie Gen models, this new feature is just the first step toward our goal of bringing you AI video generation and editing across our apps and products,” Meta explained in a blogpost. Later this year, you’ll even be able to edit videos using your own text prompts—giving you full control over how your final video looks.

You can share your edited videos directly to Facebook and Instagram using the Edits or Meta AI apps. On the Meta AI app and website, you can also post your creation to the Discover feed. Meta says this feature is designed for everyone—from casual users who want to experiment with fun effects to content creators looking for fresh ways to engage their audience.

“We also think it can transform the way creators make content on our platforms, so we worked with creators to understand which prompts would appeal to their audiences, and because our video editing feature is built into the Edits app, it can become a seamless part of the creative process,” the company said.

As per Meta, this new feature is a result of their continued effort to push AI video generation forward by conducting and sharing essential AI research.
