For the unversed, Cloudflare is a US-based internet infrastructure and security company that runs one of the world’s most expansive cloud networks. Its systems are designed to improve website performance while protecting them from cyberattacks and server overloads.
The company has acknowledged the outage and stated, “Cloudflare is experiencing an internal service degradation. Some services may be intermittently impacted. We are focused on restoring service. We will update as we are able to remediate. More updates to follow shortly.”
However the exact reason behind the outage still remains under the wraps. The company on its status page has stated that it has made changes which have restored dashboard services but many users across the globe are still facing problems.
How Cloudflare Works
The company serves as a middleman between a website’s origin server and its users. By routing traffic through its network of hundreds of data centres spread across more than 330 cities, Cloudflare helps in blocking harmful or suspicious traffic, store cached versions of websites closer to users and ensure faster and stable content delivery.
