Sony has unveiled a new PlayStation 5 with a different design. Both new models, the disc version and the digital version are compact and lighter in design than the previous PlayStation 5 models. Sony rolled out these lightweight consoles in the PlayStation 4 lineup as well. The brand has changed the consoles entirely, in terms of design. Sony claims that the new PlayStation 5 consoles come with a 30 percent reduction in volume than the previous ones. In terms of weight, the new PlayStation 5 disc version is 18 percent lighter, and the digital version is 24 percent lighter than the PlayStation 5 2022 models.

Speaking of the weight, the PlayStation 5 2023 disc version weighs 3.2 kg, whereas the digital version weighs 2.6 kg. Last year, it was 3.9 kg for the disc version and 3.4 kg for the digital version.
In terms of measurements, the new PlayStation 5 disc version measures 358 × 216 x 96 mm, and the digital version measures 358 × 216 x 80 mm. Comparing them to last year’s models, it was 390 × 260 × 104 mm and 390 × 260 × 92 mm for disc and digital variant.
Sony PlayStation 5 2023 has more changes
The new PlayStation 5 now comes with a removable Ultra HD Blu-ray drive, which you can replace if the existing drive fails. The Ultra HD Blu-ray drive will be available in the US market for $80, however, you won’t be able to use it in previous PlayStation 5 models.

Talking about the colour options, Sony will sell the panels in all-matte Black, Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver, for $55. The stocked PlayStation 5 2023 will come in White colour only.
Moving on, the brand will also offer a stand now to place your console vertically. Both models, the previous ones and the new ones are compatible with this. It will be sold for $30.
One more exciting change we’ll see this year. The new PlayStation 5 will now offer 1TB of storage. Yes, the 825GB storage is gone and has been replaced to 1TB.
Sony PlayStation 5 price and availability
The new consoled will be sold in the US in November. However, globally, they will be sold in the coming months. Sony has priced the new disc version at $500 and the digital version at $450.
