Sony PS5 gets special festive season discount, available for under Rs 45,000

After more than 5 years of its launch, Sony’s PS5 remains a popular choice for console gamers. When the console was launched back in 2020, stock shortages kept it out of reach for many gamers, but by mid-2023 availability finally normalised. Since then, the console has been easier to find across online and offline stores. Sony also introduced the PS5 Slim in India after the OG PS5, which is also being sold on quick-commerce platforms like Blinkit. But if you’ve been eyeing the original PS5, now might be the perfect moment to grab one as a big price cut has just been announced.

PlayStation, on its official Instagram handle, announced the deal with a post. The caption of the post says, “et your loved one the gift of PLAY! Festive Sale discount of ₹5000/- on the PlayStation 5 Disc and Digital Edition are live now. Limited stocks, head to the link in bio to secure yours today.”

The discount applies to the standard PS5 Console (CFI-2008A01X) and the PS5 Digital Edition (CFI-2008B01X). Under the promotion, the PS5 Digital Edition is available for Rs 44,990, down from its original Rs 49,990 MRP, while the standard PS5 Console is priced at Rs 49,990, reduced from Rs 54,990.

The offer can be availed through multiple online and offline channels. Online, the consoles are available on Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, and Zepto. Offline, buyers can visit major electronics retailers such as Croma, Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales, Sony Center, and other authorised PlayStation outlets across India.

A couple of days back, it was reported that Sony might soon bring Ghost of Yotei themed controllers to India as well. An IGN report had said that pricing for the same was tipped to be around Rs 7,490, in line with Sony’s previous limited-edition controllers like the one released for Death Stranding 2. If true, this would make India one of the key regions outside the US to receive the themed accessories.

The Ghost of Yotei controllers will be available in two variants – black and gold – each etched with intricate designs inspired by the game. The gold edition, in particular, draws from the Japanese art of kintsugi, which highlights beauty in imperfection using gold to repair broken ceramics. Subtle motifs also reference Atsu’s Ghost mask, along with hand-drawn icons from her map. The controller features a silhouette of Atsu herself, and both versions carry a special maker’s seal engraved with PlayStation symbols.

While the PS5 console bundles and themed console covers are confirmed for international markets, their Indian availability remains less clear. The bundles, which include a Ghost of Yotei-themed PS5 and a matching DualSense controller, retail for $599.99 in the US and are expected to hover around ₹55,000 if they make it here.
