All the James Bond fans are eagerly awaiting Sony PlayStation’s upcoming State of Play. In a blog post, Sony announced that the online broadcast will be dedicated entirely to 007: First Light this time, instead of a look at multiple titles. The broadcast is expected to deliver new gameplay details, story teases, and maybe even a peek at the signature Bond flair we’ve all been waiting for. Let’s take a look at what we can expect.

What to expect and how to watch
According to the official PlayStation Blog, this State of Play will feature an extended gameplay deep dive into 007: First Light. The developers at IO Interactive will walk viewers through missions, mechanics, and how the game captures the essence of James Bond while still carving out its own identity. Fans can expect a heavy emphasis on stealth, tactical decision-making, and the cinematic feel that has defined both Bond films and IO’s past work with Agent 47.
The showcase will also shine a light on the game’s original storyline. While it’s rooted in the spycraft and action synonymous with Ian Fleming’s creation, 007: First Light won’t adapt any one film or novel. Instead, IO is crafting a brand-new James Bond origin story, letting players step into the shoes of a younger Bond before he became the iconic spy we know today. Expect world-hopping missions, suave gadgets, and environments designed for multiple approaches.
To watch the State of Play, you can tune into the presentation live on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. The stream is scheduled for September 3 at 11:30 PM IST.
About 007: First Light
007: First Light was first revealed back in 2020, when IO Interactive teased its ambitious plans to create the ultimate Bond video game experience. At the time, the studio only shared a brief teaser, revealing little more than the fact that it was working with the James Bond license under the codename “Project 007.” Since then, updates have been scarce, which has only amplified curiosity around the project.
Now, nearly five years later, the wait is paying off. The upcoming State of Play marks the first time fans will see proper gameplay footage and learn how IO intends to bring James Bond to life in an interactive medium. The official title of the game was unveiled in June this year and it is slated to launch in 2026.
