Cyberpunk 2077 has been one of the most anticipated games ever and its launch was met with massive disappointment. Sure, if you are a PC gamer, then the only issue you had with the game was the bugs. But those playing on the PS4 and Xbox One were met with a game that’s largely unplayable because of sub-par framerate performance. While CD Projekt Red has offered refunds to gamers, Sony has removed the game from the PlayStation store

Now, developer CD Projekt Red has issued an apology for the condition of the game in a new video, along with highlighting the future roadmap for the game. The video is presented by CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński. He starts by issuing a public apology for the subpar PS4 and Xbox One performance of Cyberpunk 2077. He highlights that the game was built for the PC from the ground up then scaled to the consoles. Remember, at launch the game was playable on a whopping 9 platforms – PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X (review), PS5 (review), Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PC and Stadia. While all the versions of the game were riddled with bugs, if nothing else, it is the base version of the last-gen consoles that saw true lacklustre performance.

In the video below, CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński explains his side of the story as to what happened during the development of the game. He also highlights the developer’s side of the story as to why PC review codes were given out first and console codes later.
