The action drama grossed Rs 68.1 crore net in India and ₹145 crore worldwide within 24 hours of release.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s action-packed entertainer Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, hit theatres on August 14, 2025, and has been drawing massive crowds since its release. As the film continues to dominate the big screens, fans are eagerly awaiting its arrival on OTT.
SurveyRajinikanth’s latest film Coolie is set for a blockbuster run both on screen and online, with Amazon Prime Video acquiring its OTT rights for a record ₹120 crore. Released in theatres on August 14, the Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed action drama has already grossed ₹68.1 crore net in India and ₹145 crore worldwide within its first 24 hours, positioning it among the biggest Indian openings of 2025.
Where to watch Coolie online?
Coolie has been confirmed to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video once it wraps up its theatrical run. The film, at its theatrical release, confirmed Prime Video as the official digital partner.
Although the exact streaming date hasn’t been announced yet, it is expected to hit OTT after the usual gap for major South Indian blockbusters, about eight weeks after its big-screen debut.
Coolie’s plot
Coolie is a high-octane action drama that follows Deva (Rajinikanth), a former daily-wage laborer who now runs a hostel-style mansion in Chennai. His life takes a dark turn when his close friend Rajasekhar dies under suspicious circumstances.
As Deva digs deeper, he uncovers a dangerous link to a criminal syndicate led by the ruthless kingpin Simon Xavier. With the odds stacked against him, Deva sets out on a mission of revenge, unearthing a shocking past connection between himself and Simon.

Coolie’s star cast
The film boasts a power-packed ensemble cast featuring Rajinikanth in the lead, alongside Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra Rao, and Aamir Khan (in a special appearance) in pivotal roles. The supporting lineup includes Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, Kaali Venkat, Rishikanth, Tamizh, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Baburaj.
Veteran actress Shobana appears in a cameo as Deva’s wife, while Pooja Hegde appears in the song Monica.
