Meta-owned instant messaging app is reportedly working on a new feature for Web users that will store all recent media in a centralised location within the app. The development has been spotted in a recent beta update for WhatsApp Web. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, a similar feature was previously spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.13.4. However, it is yet to be made available on the WhatsApp mobile app. Here’s everything to know about this chat media hub feature for WhatsApp Web.
The WhatsApp development tracker has shared a screengrab of a new feature for web users that will likely appear on the sidebar, making it easy to find. Once rolled out, the users will be able to access the media files shared across chats, including images, videos, and GIFs, under one tab without having to search through individual chats.
In addition to media files, the new feature will also display details like the sender’s name, date as well as file size. Additionally, the media hub will also support keyword-based search and filter to let users organize and locate content by the date.

Furthermore, a select button will also be made available allowing users to choose multiple files at once to delete, download, or forward the items. This will also help users to manage their device’s storage by grouping all shared media and documents, and review and delete unwanted or large files.
Do note that the centralized chat media hub feature is currently under development and it is likely to be available in a future update of the WhatsApp web. However, there are no details on its roll out timeline.
