“People connect daily on Instagram through posts and stories, but especially privately through messaging, so we’re excited to be bringing these new messaging features to Instagram,” the company announced in a blogpost on March 4th.
While sending messages on Instagram is very simple, there are times when you might notice a typo or an error, or simply want to modify something after hitting the send button. Well, Instagram now allows all users to edit messages up to 15 minutes after sending. Check out how to edit Instagram messages
You’ll soon have the option to pin up to 3 group chats or 1:1 conversations for quick access in your inbox, whether it’s with your best friends or family. You will just have to simply swipe left or tap and hold on the chat, then select “pin” to move it to the top. You can also easily unpin a chat whenever you want.
Toggle read receipts in DMs
Now, Instagram allows you to choose to turn read receipts on or off, for all of your chats or specific ones.
Save your favourite stickers
You can now save your favourite stickers in DMs for easy access. Press and hold on the sticker you want to save and you will be able to find them at the top next time you go to stickers.
Moreover, stickers, GIFs, videos, photos and voice messages are available when you reply to a message. You just have to press and hold on the message you want to reply to, select reply, and you’ll see the required options.
New chat themes
Instagram has announced new chat themes including Love (soon to be animated), Lollipop, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and many more.
To change the theme for a chat, tap the chat name at the top, go into themes, and pick one of the themes available.
