Instagram scraps screenshot alerts feature for Stories: Report
HIGHLIGHTS

The company commenced testing the feature with select users back in January this year and it informs a user when someone takes a screenshot of their story.

At the start of this year, Instagram started testing a new feature that alerted a user when someone took screenshots of their Stories. The feature was said to be enabled for select users and was supposed to heighten privacy. Now a Fonearena report claims that the company has removed the feature and users will no longer get a notification when someone takes a screenshot of their Story, however, one can take a look at who viewed their story by swiping up on it. Scrapping the option is not that surprising. We can understand that an admin of any famous Instagram account would be bombarded with notifications after they upload their story as some of their followers would definitely be taking screenshots.

Speaking of new options for Stories, Instagram recently expanded shopping from its feed to Stories. Stories by some businesses can now display stickers for products. When tapped on, they will convey more information on the product and give an option of buying them directly. Currently, the feature available for some brands like Adidas and Louis Vuitton, but support for others will be coming soon. The company also revealed that over 300 million people use Stories every day.

The aforementioned new feature comes soon after the social media platform rolled out an update for Stories feature that allows one to instantly repost a Story, which they have been tagged in, to their Story. Both iOS and Android versions of the Instagram app come with the new option. Additionally, the app was previously updated to make photo and video uploading to Stories easier. Users can now upload up to 10 photos and videos as a story in one go and there is a  "preview" option as well.
