According to Mosseri, Edits is more than just a video editing app. It’s a full suite of tools designed to make creating and sharing videos easy and seamless. The app includes features like a dedicated inspiration tab, a space for early ideas, and all the essential editing tools you’d expect. It also offers a higher-quality camera, which Mosseri himself used to film his announcement video.
As per the iOS App Store listing, Edits simplifies the video creation process with these features:
Export videos without a watermark and share them on any platform.
Store all drafts and videos in one place for easy access.
Capture high-quality clips up to 10 minutes long and start editing instantly.
Share videos to Instagram in 1080p resolution.
Precise video editing, frame by frame.
Advanced camera controls for resolution, frame rate, and dynamic range, and much more.
The app doesn’t stop at editing, it also helps creators make informed decisions. A live insights dashboard tracks video performance, showing engagement details like skip rates and follower versus non-follower interactions.
You can preorder the Edits app from the iOS App Store, and it will be coming to Android soon. The app won’t be available to download until next month. Until then, Instagram plans to refine the app with feedback from a select group of creators.
