You can now link Google Pay to your RuPay card: Here’s how

In addition to Paytm and PhonePe, Google has now formally begun supporting

RuPay credit cards in India.

Finally, Google Pay users can now use their credit cards to make payments making Google the third brand to be integrated with the feature along with PhonePe and Paytm. 

UPI has become a part and parcel element of every customer making payments online or in retail stores. As of March 2023, Google Pay has 67 million active users in India.

While the RBI permitted credit card payments via UPI last year, their use was sparse. In addition to Paytm and PhonePe, Google has now formally begun supporting RuPay credit cards in India. 

This will assist Google in meeting the increasing demand for Google Pay, which stands as the second highest used UPI platform next to PhonePe. Let’s understand what the platform has to offer and how one can operate the integration. 

Google Pay and the NPCI have announced that owners of RuPay credit cards will be able to use the platform to conduct UPI payments. To make payments online and offline, users will only need to link their RuPay credit card to Google Pay.

Banks affiliated to RuPay and UPI linkage

RuPay card holders who can connect the credit card to their UPI account include the following;  
HDFC Bank 
Axis Bank
Punjab National Bank
Bank of Baroda
Canara Bank
Indian Bank
Kotak Mahindra Bank,
Union Bank of India 

These banks can currently use this service. Soon, additional institutions are anticipated to follow suit.

How to add your credit card to Google Pay

Simply add the compatible RuPay credit card as a payment option to use it for GPay UPI transactions. 
To do this, pick the "RuPay credit card on UPI" option under your profile.
Choose the banking partner, and then enter the necessary information (such as the card's last six numbers, its validity, etc.) to finish the transaction. 
Once completed, you will be able to use your RuPay credit card to make purchases through Google Pay UPI.
