The Android-iPhone case is currently looking for backers on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.

We have seen many cool tech innovations emerge from Kickstarter campaigns in the past, but none so peculiar as this one. ESTI, a startup from Israel, is currently looking for investors to back its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for ‘Eye’, a smart case for iPhone 6, 6s, and 7 (including the plus models).

Eye is no ordinary iPhone case. It sports a 5-inch FHD AMOLED Always-On display, a memory card slot for 256GB of storage, a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, Infrared, 2 SIM slots, a 2800 mAH battery, support for wireless charging, a metal tag that acts as a car mount, and, Android Nougat 7.1. Essentially, Eye is an Android smartphone you can slap at the back of your iPhone. It even uses the iPhone’s rear camera as its selfie snapper.

Eye connects to an iPhone using the lightning connector, and allows users to transfer files at speeds of 130 MB per second. Users can backup pictures and videos from their iPhones to the Eye’s memory card enabled storage using an app developed by the company. The additional battery on the Eye can charge the iPhone, simultaneously powering the case. The company claims, “when you're using Eye, the iPhone is not really used, leaving it in standby mode much more than usual.” The Eye also uses Qi charging which enables users to charge their iPhones using any Qi wireless charger at home, and those available commercially at outlets like Starbucks and McDonalds. For making and taking calls with its 2 SIM slots, Eye uses the iPhone’s microphone and speaker.

Finally, it runs Android Nougat 7.1 on its own chipset, giving it everything required to be deemed a smartphone. Super-early units of the Eye are prices at $69, but those have already sold out. Early bidders can get their hands on the Eye for $95 for the standard variant, while the 4G/LTE enabled model can be purchased at $129. The retail price of the Eye will be $189, and the company is shipping units of the case worldwide, with deliveries expected between August and September this year.
