The Huawei Nexus 6P is Google's flagship Nexus device. The smartphone was announced in India today and will be available in 32GB and 64GB variants.
The Nexus 6 was big, bulky and way too expensive. The device arrived in an era when Nexus smartphones were famous for being powerful budget devices. Learning from their mistakes and partnering with Huawei, Google introduced the Nexus 6P in India today. Thankfully they have done away with the 16GB variant and the Nexus 6P will be available in 32GB and 64GB variants only, priced at Rs. 39,999 and Rs. 42,999 respectively.
Coming to the specifications of the Nexus 6P, the smartphone has an AMOLED 5.7-inch display with a 2560×1440 resolution. The 5.7-inch display, though big, was comfortable to use. Typing on it was a breeze and its 7.3mm thin. And even though the camera at the back is protruding, it isn’t just the camera. It is the entire top that houses the camera that protrudes. Most of the circuitry inside the Nexus 6P has been built into this top panel. It looks good from a design perspective and it is ergonomic too, for a phablet.
Moving to the other specifications of the smartphone, it has the Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 chipset with a Quad-core 1.55 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU, coupled with 3GB of RAM and the Adreno 430 GPU. It has a 12MP 1.55µm pixel size camera and was very snappy, clicking pictures in a heart beat. We will however reserve our final judgment for the review of the device.
A massive 3450mAh battery powers the entire package. The smartphone also has a USB-C port and supports fast charging.
The beauty of the 6P is that it's slim, light and so well built. It’s delicate and sturdy at the same time. The phone is available in three colours – aluminum, graphite and frost.
What remains to be seen is how the Nexus 6P stands against competing devices such as the Galaxy S6, iPhone 6s Plus and the OnePlus 2, which have proved their position as great smartphones to buy.
