Moto E: Performance benchmarks and unboxing

We got our hands on the Moto E - the Rs 6,999 Android smartphone from Motorola that has created quite a stir in the low-end smartphone market. Here are some initial performance benchmarks and unboxing shots. Detailed review to follow soon.

Moto E comes with a dual-core Snapdragon 200 SOC coupled with 1 GB RAM. During our initial testing (first 17 minutes), we did not notice any evident lag while swiping through screens or launching apps. Moto E cannot be termed "sluggish". Though, multiple rapid swipes across app lists and widget screens does occasionally send the Moto E into a tizzy, causing a tiny bit of lag.

Here are benchmark results of Moto E, for performance junkies (like us) who'd rather believe the objective numbers over subjective evaluation (yes, what's fast for your neighbor might not be fast enough for you! we understand).

Performance comparison

As expected, Moto E isn't a scorcher in terms of benchmark performance. While 1GB RAM keeps things smooth in terms of regular daily usage, taxing the phone with heavy games or graphically intensive apps will make the phone feel slow. Basically, you might just find faster phones in terms of pure performance at the same price point…very soon in the market.
