The Honor 8C is the newest smartphone from the company and continues from where the Honor 7C left off. The new phone brings in a new design, larger screen and more. In other words, it’s exactly what you would expect from a successor. The phone is available in two variants. The 4GB RAM + 32GB storage variant is priced at Rs 11,999, while the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs 12,999. These models are exclusively available on Amazon. Let’s take a look at some of the new features that the Honor 8C has to offer.

Beefy battery

The Honor 8C sports a large 4000mAh battery. This should be more than enough to power users all though their day, without the need for them to hunt for a charging spot or look around for a power bank. In fact, Honor claims that the phone can run for two days in one charge. Further, even with the large battery, the phone is less than 8mm thick.

World’s first

The Honor 8C is the first smartphone in the world to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset. This chipset is manufactured using a 14nm process and has eight cores. This includes four 1.8GHz Kryo 250 Gold cores and four 1.8GHz Kryo 250 Silver cores. It also sports an Adreno 506 GPU. This needs this power because it is the first Honor smartphone in the segment to offer AI capabilities in its camera.

Same, but different

The Honor 8C sports a dual-rear camera setup with a 13MP + 2MP configuration. While this may seem like it’s the same as its predecessor, there is a big difference. The new camera sports a larger f/1.8 aperture lens. This will allow more light to reach the sensor, which should improve the phone’s low light capability. Honor claims that the camera utilizes the power of AI to detect 22 different scenes and 500 different scenarios and then changes the camera settings automatically. Honor also notes that in AI mode, the camera offers better reproduction of colours, as well as better quality pictures.

The cool features aren’t limited to the rear camera. The 8MP front camera comes with a bunch of Augmented Reality (AR) features and soft flash that will let you take some funky selfies. In terms of video, you get the ability to record in H.265 format, which lets you take high quality videos that take up less storage space.

A ‘notch’ above

As mentioned before, the Honor 8C sports a ‘notched’ display. As such, it offers a display aspect ratio of 19:9. It manages to offer a larger 6.26-inch display while keeping the body size more-or-less the same. In fact it is one of the largest displays for its segment. It also offers a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. However, if you aren’t a fan of the notch, the Honor 8C gives you the option to hide it. On top of all this, Honor claims the device is the first in its segment to offer TUV Blue Light certification. This means that the display protects your eyes and offers a comfortable viewing experience.

Shimmering design

Like its predecessor, the Honor 8C sports a taller and narrower design. However, the newer phone sports a notch on top of the display. There are also changes on the rear. The phone is made using polycarbonate, with a gradient colour finish that changes hues when light reflects on it. Honor calls this the ‘Cat Eye’ design due to the way it reflects light.

Unlock at a glance

On top of this, the phone also comes with Face Unlock. So do not have to fiddle about with a PIN or even reach around for the fingerprint sensor, Not only that, but the Face Unlock system can work with as little as 1 LUX of ambient light.

Plenty of storage

The Honor 8C eschews hybrid SIM slots in favour of a triple slot. This gives users the option to use two SIM slots as well as a microSD card at the same time. Thanks to this, the phone can offer a total storage space of up to 300GB of storage (internal + external). This gives you more than enough space of photos, movies and apps.

Lots more features

Besides all this, the phone also comes with Dual Bluetooth connection, that allows users to wirelessly connect with up to two devices at the same time. Further, for all you gamers out there, the Honor 8C gives you a Do Not Disturb option when gaming. So your gaming session will not be interrupted by any calls or notifications. Further, the Honor 8C also comes with a Simple Mode that is aimed at making it easier for elders to use the smartphone.

With so many cool features, as well as its attractive price point, the Honor 8C makes a good case for itself in the eyes of anyone looking for an affordable, yet impressive smartphone.
