The Honor 5C is Huawei’s newest entry into the Indian smartphone market. Priced at Rs. 10,999, the phone is placed in an ultra-competitive segment of the market, but still manages to stand out from the crowd thanks to set of unique features. One of the most notable features of the phone is its good looking yet ergonomic design. Many users tend to only look at the design of the phone when then are planning to purchase a device, but ergonomics and build quality are quite equally important. The Honor 5C not only offers a metallic build, but is also designed to be comfortable to hold and durable enough to withstand occasional knocks.
The Honor 5C is built using aircraft-grade aluminium alloy. This not only ensures that the phone is lightweight, but also makes the phone durable. Further, it features a scratch resistant anodized coating that protects the device corrosion, as well as general wear and tear. The body of the device is moulded using a high speed metal stamping process and is finished with a brushed metal effect.
The device is also the first model that is built according to Huawei’s stringent 3.1 quality assurance standards. The phone was subject to drop tests, impact tests, temperature/humidity tests, as well as a salt spray test. Like the placement of the fingerprint sensor, the spot is also deliberately chosen as this is where the middle finger or the thumb will be placed, depending on which hand the phone held. Another feature of the phone that helps to improve its ergonomic design is the 5.2-inch Full HD display. The display size is big enough for users to enjoy content, yet small enough to make it manageable when using it with just one hand.
A metallic build and a robust body isn’t the only thing that the Honor 5C has to offer. The phone is powered by a 16nm HiSilicon Kirin 650 SoC with 2GB of RAM. Further, the device offers 16GB of storage, and if that isn’t enough, uses can expand it by up to 128GB via a MicroSD card. The phone is equipped with a large 3000mAh battery and runs the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, Android Marshmallow v6.0. At the back is a 13MP rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture lens, while at the front is an 8MP camera with a 77 degree wide angle lens.
The Honor 5C is a well designed smartphone that also offers an ergonomic build at a very competitive price point. The powerful specifications simply add to an already impressive looking smartphone.
