“We want your machines to be always running reliably” – Dell’s Raj Kumar Rishi on Latest PC Lineup and Indian Consumer

I had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Raj Kumar Rishi, the Vice President and Managing Director of Consumer and Small Business at Dell Technologies India, during the highly anticipated launch event of the Dell M18 Alienware laptop.

This remarkable device has garnered attention as one of the largest and most powerful laptops in its segment. As the event unfolded, Dell Technologies also unveiled a range of other exciting products.

In our conversation, we delved into the meticulous design process behind the new Dell PC lineup, specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of Indian consumers. Furthermore, we explored what sets Dell PCs apart in the highly competitive PC consumer market in India. With Mr. Rishi's expertise and insights, we gained a deeper understanding of Dell's commitment to delivering exceptional computing experiences to its customers.

"So Mr. Rishi, can you please guide us on how you go about designing the new Dell PC lineup in reference to the needs of Indian consumers?"

"So look, you heard that we've been recognized as the most trusted brand in India for four years in a row. And this is on the back of various things. But since you asked the question about the product, so I'll focus on the product here. See, Indian consumers are fairly demanding in terms of their requirements. Then, they look for a machine that can multitask and is powerful enough for a wide variety of tasks.

I'm very happy to see that more and more new professionals are coming up, ranging from video editors, filmmakers, tech journalists, and so on. And hence, Yetnesh, we keep all this in mind. So, one, we make sure that our products are extremely powerful in terms of performance, and that goes without saying.

Secondly, the product has to look cool. So we have these metal finish laptops, machines with honeycomb designs, and so on.

Thirdly, if you are, let's say, a video editor or YouTube filmmaker, you need larger screens, and we make powerful 16-inch Windows laptops and now even an 18-inch model that can easily take care of the performance part.

And then, of course, we have worked hard to ensure that our products last much longer than average, both in terms of hardware and software capabilities. I am very happy to say that we have made significant progress in this regard. So these are some of the things we focus on, like performance, big screen size, fit and finish, and the after-sales service of the product as well."

"So can you tell me very quickly what makes the Dell PC stand apart in the PC consumer market in India?"

"Basically, being the first to bring over new technology is what helps us succeed. First with the 13th Gen launch of Intel processors, first with launching big-screen devices, providing great service for a diverse country like India, and more. We want your machines to be always running reliably. We have Premium Plus, which provides accidental damage protection, so you can use your device in any way you like without worries. These are some of the things that differentiate us."

"Okay. So lastly, you seem to be very busy, but you don't miss out on any of your tasks. What’s the secret behind your productivity?"

"My team, I would say. I know these days, a lot of people rely on tech, and I am myself a tech user. I wouldn't say that I don't use tech. I use tech for managing my health, managing my work. But at the same time, it's my team that I can totally rely on without any hiccups. My executive support team is out there, and they work as hard or harder than me to keep me efficient and productive all the time."

This was Mr. Rishi from Dell India, sharing his insights. Let us know what you think about it.
