First look at the key features of the new OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones

OPPO and innovation go hand in hand and the brand has always been one of the top players when it comes to introducing new smartphone technology in India. They have steadily built a legacy across the category. However, what people may not know is that OPPO also has an audio legacy associated with it. With the OPPO Enco series, the company showed that it has the chops to not only compete, but also excel among the big names in this field. Case in point being the OPPO Enco W31 TWS headphones and the Enco M31 wireless headphones that were launched last year. These products offered users a range of top-notch features at a very reasonable price range. Later in the year, OPPO launched the Enco W51 TWS earbuds, which showcased the company’s technical prowess.

Today, we are checking-out the all-new OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones. The Enco X TWS brings a host of new features and innovative tech with premium looks, which will appeal to audio enthusiasts.

The OPPO Enco X is the newest audio product from OPPO

The OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones is the latest in the OPPO Enco series and is set to follow in the company’s overarching goal of offering users premium features at excellent value. We like the fact that OPPO decided to pay homage to its history, by designing its charging case in a manner similar to the OPPO MP3 X3 music player that was released many years back.

We list down the key features of the OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones that are particularly impressive.

Clearing out the noise with Active Noise Cancellation

Despite its size, the OPPO Enco X offers ANC

Don’t you hate it when you aren’t able to listen to your tunes clearly because of outside noise. What if you could just block that all off? With ANC tech, you can! Active Noise Cancellation or ANC has been a part of high-end audio devices for quite a while now. The feature lets users shut out the outside world and cocoon themselves in the comfort of their favourite songs. The ANC tech in the OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones is based on using feed-forward (FF) and feedback (FB) noise control together to drastically improve noise cancellation levels.

This is a pretty smart implementation of ANC and we experienced this type of Hybrid ANC in the OPPO Enco W51 that was released a few months back. We noted that it did a good job at cutting out certain ambient sounds. And with the right set of ear tips, it offered impressive levels of noise-cancellation, especially for the price. So, one can rest assured in the knowledge that the OPPO Enco X should offer similar levels of noise reduction, if not more. But how exactly does this hybrid ANC technology work?

The OPPO Enco X comes with multiple tips to ensure a snug fit

An out-of-ear FF (feed-forward) microphone detects outside noise levels to create inverted waves to cancel those out. Meanwhile, the in-ear FB (feedback) detects residual noises, and creates inverted waves for secondary noise canceling. In order to ensure effective noise cancellation, both these microphones have been placed in specific locations and at specific angles. The FF microphone for instance, has been placed in such a location on the earbud that it is not blocked by skin when worn by a user. The FB microphone has been placed in such a location that it will listen to any residual noise inside the ear without obstructing the audio output.

The OPPO Enco X uses two mics to help cancel out ambient noise

Noise control effectiveness and stability are related to the overall design, with two microphones placed precisely at specific locations and angles in each earphone (the FF microphone has to face outwards without being blocked by skin, while the FB microphone has to be close to the ear but cannot obstruct audio output).

Better audio across frequencies with DBEE 3.0

OPPO developed the DBEE 1.0 dynamic enhancement engine for its MP3 products way back in 2007. Fast forward 13 years, and we can see the use of the new DBEE 3.0 Acoustic System in the OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones. This new system features new materials, structure, and new technology. This includes coaxial dual drivers, use of a magnetic balanced membrane and a triple-layer composite dynamic driver.

The DBEE 3.0 tech in the OPPO Enco X helps improve audio across frequencies

The magnetic balanced membrane driver is suspended between two parallel magnetic voice coils. This is said to ensure that no transmission loss, nor transmission latency occurs. The force acts directly on the membrane and vibrates itself up and down synchronously. This extends the reach of high frequencies, thereby improving audio in that range. Meanwhile, the triple-layer composite dynamic driver helps ensure that low frequencies are deep, powerful and free from any distortion or mudding. It also helps ensure mid-range frequencies are solid and clear.

Enjoy Hi-Res Audio Wirelessly with LHDC

LHDC ensures hi-res audio without degradation

LHDC or Low Latency and High-Definition Audio Codec is a coding technology that can wirelessly transmit low latency and high-definition audio without frequency processing or audio degradation. As such, it allows for the transmission of hi-res audio wirelessly. In other words, it ensures that you don’t lose out on audio quality, just because you are streaming music to your earphones instead of using a wire. We have found this tech in a number of other high-end audio devices and is known for its audio quality, which makes it a must for any audiophile who is looking for high-quality audio but doesn’t want to get tied up in wires.

Packed with Features

Despite its size, the OPPO Enco X offers touch controls

The OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones offers a bunch of other nifty features that are designed to make life easier. For starters, the earbuds are IP54 certified against water and dust resistance, so you can wear them while jogging or exercising without worrying about sweat damaging your earbuds. We found them to be very comfortable in terms of fit and they should not pose any issue with long duration usage. The buds are also touch sensitive, letting users control their music with a tap or touch. On top of this, OPPO has partnered with premium Danish speaker manufacturer, Dynaudio, to ensure high-end audio quality. Dynaudio offers a range of high-tech audio equipment for homes and automobiles. That’s another sign of the audio quality one can expect with the OPPO Enco X.

Further, the earbuds on their own offer a playtime of 5.5 hours with noise cancelling turned on. With the included charging case, this goes up to 20 hours. With noise cancelling turned off, the OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones can offer 25 hours of use. When the battery is finally depleted, buyers can simply use wireless charging, to power them back. As far as connectivity goes, the OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones come with Bluetooth v5.2, so they will work with pretty much any smartphone.

The case is designed to resemble the OPPO MP3 X3 player that was released many years ago

Design is another aspect that the OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones seems to have nailed down. As mentioned earlier, the charging case of the earbuds connects back to the OPPO MP3 X3 player that was released many years ago. We like the rounded case design approach, as it also ensures that the case doesn’t snag on any loose threads when in the pocket. The earbuds themselves features a simple and sleek design with a short stalk that doesn’t look too inconspicuous when worn. It is also available in a black and white version, so users can pick one that best suits their style and taste.

The OPPO Enco X is priced at Rs 9,990

As one can see the OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones are packed to the brim with some high-end tech that is aimed at elevating a user’s listening experience. At the same time, OPPO has managed to cram so much into such a small and lightweight package. With so many cool features and tech under the hood, these earphones make for a very good option for those looking to elevate their listening experience, while still looking for something that is small and portable. Even with so much tech packed in, the most surprising feature of the   OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones has to be the price. The earbuds are available in India at Rs 9,990 which allows for impressive value for money. You can check out the OPPO Enco X True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones here
