The call for resignation comes after Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton questioned Intel’s board chairman about whether Tan’s alleged connections to Chinese firms could create conflicts with security regulations.
SurveyIn a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!”

Lip-Bu Tan took over as Intel’s CEO in March this year after the board decided to replace Pat Gelsinger, who had been leading the company’s turnaround efforts for three and a half years. During his time in charge, Intel lost further ground to its main rival TSMC.
Just last month, the company announced plans to cut 24,000 jobs this year and cancel planned projects in Germany and Poland.

In April, Reuters reported that Tan had invested in over 600 Chinese technology companies, including some linked to China’s military. However, by the time of the report, he had already divested from an unspecified number of these Chinese entities.
In a statement to Reuters on Wednesday, Intel said the company and Tan “are deeply committed to the national security of the U.S. and the integrity of our role in the U.S. defense ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, Trump recently issued an executive order implementing an additional 25 percent tariff on imports from India. With these newly imposed tariffs, which go into effect in 21 days, the existing import duty on Indian goods is doubled to 50 percent.
