Lenovo has come up with a small upgrade to Ideapad Y550 series laptops with the Ideapad Y560. The stylish looking Ideapad sports a classy look with designer front cover. The full black colour with an orange border looks good. Weighing 2.7 kg it is a bit on the heavier side.
The Lenovo Ideapad comes with a Core i5 processor and 4 GB DDR3 RAM. The Y560 does not get very hot. The 15.6 inch HD capable screen is good and bright. Also provided are two JBL speakers whose sound quality is top notch. The web-camera is also pretty decent.
The Ideapad Y560 has switchable graphics: integrated graphics and ATI Radeon HD5730 1 GB dedicated graphics. It has only 3 USB ports. It comes with a DVD RW. It also has an eSATA port.
Its 3D Mark Score was 7824 and Doom 3 runs at 139.8 fps. During file transfer we got 39.34 MBps for sequential and 32.48 MBps for assorted file. Wi-fi performance test revealed speed of 38.16 Mbps. Battery life test revealed a battery life of 100 minutes.
The Y560 is not compact but the keyboard is very cramped. A lot of space is wasted around the sides which could have been utilized for keyboard. The trackpad is decent but the click buttons are really disappointing.
