The event will see students participating in a range of combats such as robotics combat, drone racing, gaming and more. As the spring is almost in the air, IIT Roorkee proudly presents Cognizance 2019, a plethora of exciting events with the theme "Unwinding Chaos". Cognizance provides ingenious students with a platform for displaying their technical acumen through over broad spectrum of competitions, workshops, and events conducted in it.
Cognizance codifies Insomnia, exploiting both patience and programming skills of participants captioning basic string manipulation to dynamic complex programming; Mindsweeper, an event questioning the mettle and coding skill, and case studies under Error 404, Wheelelectrying and a lot more. Cognizance also organizes robotics combat (Armageddon), drone racing both on land (Powerdrift) and in water (Poseidon), drone making competition like Aeronova, Cyborg Breakin, and Quadrone to cross the obstruction framed in robotics store competing with each other for their way to rise victorious. To provide knowledge and skills in technical fields like ethical hacking, web development, cloud computing, app development, IoT, Mercedes engine, embedded systems, machine learning, and AI, various multifaceted workshops are effectively planned throughout the fest.
Further, To expand its spectrum towards finance & management, Cognizance will witness B-Street and Fin Fest, Cogni Street, workshops like Quantitative Finance, Machine Learning in Finance, will be a traders paradise. The incorporation of departmental events and workshops involving a paper presentation of research work conducted by participants in the presence of professors from each department of IIT Roorkee is the core interest of various researchers of our country. There's also a wide room for examining the minds of skilled gamers in PUBG Mobile, CS, Dota-2, NFS, Fifa, Rubik cube, and Sudoku challenges and win prize amount worth up to 6 Lakhs. To magnify the blend of art, technology, and literature, the second version of the LitFest is also on a roll with Panel Discussions, Workshops, and LitMart. This edition also takes ahead the "Innovation Conclave" which aims at solving the major problems or issues of the society that requires brainstorming of the young minds of the nation.
Cognizance 2019 will be honored to be graced by the esteemed presence of Shri K.Sivan, Chairperson, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. Further, the master of comedy, Zakir Khan is going to perform live in the campus of IIT Roorkee on Day 1 of this technical confluence. Along with that, Mr. Sharat Chander, Ms. Neeta Verma, Prof. Bikash Chandra Sinha, and other eminent speakers are coordinately invited for Guest Lectures to boost knowledge in their expertise area and the preceding edition of Cognizance was flourished with the experience and knowledge of Bharat Panchal, Jeremie Lasnier and Dr. Prashant Jha.
Social initiatives have always been the cornerstones of Cognizance which have been recognized by UNESCO, UNDP, SAYEN, Make in India, Centre for Environment Education and have also received the support of the ministry of Uttarakhand for our coordinated efforts. This year effectively planned and coordinated initiatives on Plastic Waste Management, Female Health, and Hygiene and Drying tributaries of the Ganga have been successfully taken up. To nurture young talent, Cognizance has also conducted Uttrakhand Talent Search Examination(UTSE) in over 25 schools of Uttarakhand for the students of classes IX and X.
Cognizance agglomerates over 200 events in its store encompassing every wavelength of the technical spectrum rewarding prizes over Rs 20 lakhs and various goodies to the commendable and worthy victors. The previous edition of this technical confluence turned out to be an unparalleled success which was concluded with the astonishing performances by captivating artists, Guru Randhawa, Biswa Kalyan Rath, Diego Miranda, and Aron Chupa.
