The OnePlus TV is codenamed “Dosa”
OnePlus confirmed that it is working on a TV some time ago. It is not hyping the launch of the upcoming device by revealing information about it in bits and pieces as it did with the OnePlus 7 series of handsets. The company's CEO, Pete Lau, recently detailed the reason for the OnePlus TV's existence in a forum-post, while earlier this week, it was revealed at least one of the variants will come with a 55” QLED display. Now, the OnePlus TV has been spotted in a screenshot captured from Google Play Developer Console, which reveals the device's specs.
The OnePlus TV is codenamed “Dosa” and will be powered by a MediaTek SoC and a Mali-G51 GPU to boot. Along with that, there will be 3GB of RAM and will run on Android 9 Pie. The resolution, however, is just 1080p, but that could likely be bumped up to 4K.
The OnePlus TV will likely come with a customised UI with deep integration of a smartphone for better connectivity. Furthermore, the TV likely won’t be priced in the same range as Xiaomi’s Mi TV and could be a more premium offering. Yet, it could just be cheaper than the Sony and Samsung flaghsips, owing to the partnership with Amazon.
The OnePlus TV will launch first in India and then expand to other markets.
More info on the @OnePlus TV "OnePlus_Dosa_IN" I talked about yesterday.
It's using a Mediatek MT5670 (no info found on it, so far) with a good Mali-G51 MP3 GPU. And of course, #AndroidTV 9.
ATV only allows 1080p for the TV menus, don't worry TV is 4K for compatible content. pic.twitter.com/RuS8TgYBJF
