The Yu Yunique is priced at Rs. 4,999 and the company aims to sell 5 lakh units by November this year.
The recently launched Yu Yunique smartphone will go on its first flash sale today from 12PM on Snapdeal. The smartphone was launched by the company, with registrations starting the same day. As flash sales go, the phone will of course be available on first come first served basis, with limited number of units.
At the moment, it is amongst the most affordable 4G enabled smartphones present in the country, costing only Rs. 4,999. The device comes with a 4.7-inch 720p display, along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. For performance, it comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz and 1GB RAM. The Yunique has 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded to 32GB with the help of microSD card. Further, it has an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 2MP front camera with 83-degree field of view. It has a battery of 2000mAh, which is non-removable. The Yunique runs stock Android Lollipop v5.1.1 instead of Cyanogen OS, which has been on Yu phones till now. The company though says that users can flash Cyanogen OS on the phone, without voiding their warranty.
The company also announced that it is aiming to sell 5 lakh units of the Yunique smartphone by Diwali (November) this year. It's a lofty goal, considering that the Yu Yunique competes against devices like the Lenovo A2010, Redmi 2, and the Moto E (2015) for market share.
Before this smartphone, Yu has also launched Yuphoria, Yureka, and Yureka Plus with each of them running on Cyanogen OS out-of-the-box. Recently, the company also launched a portable photo printer, called Yupix for Rs. 6,999. The printer can be used to print photos from any Android and iOS device and supports WiFi, WiFi Direct and NFC transfer protocol.
