Windows Phone 7.8-based Nokia Lumia 505 officially announced

The Nokia Lumia 505 is a budget Windows Phone 7.8 device and will launch on Mexico’s Telcel network in the upcoming weeks. There is no word on the pricing of the smartphone or its availability in any other part of the world.

The Lumia 505 will be available in red, pink or black and show off a 3.7-inch AMOLED display. Under the hood, a single-core 800MHz CPU with 256MB of RAM powers the device. Whether the device has Nokia’s ClearBlack Technology isn’t clear but we won’t be surprised if the technology is absent since this is a budget device. The rear of the smartphone houses an 8MP snapper and there is no front facing camera. The built-in storage is low at 4GB and there is no expandable memory card option. Nokia and Microsoft will however provide 7GB of free SkyDrive storage with the Lumia 505.

The Nokia Lumia 505 weighs a mere 131 grams and measures 118.1 x 61.2 x 11.3 mm. It has a 1300mAh battery. You can take a look at the complete specifications of the device on Nokia’s official website here.

The reason the Lumia 505 will run on Windows Phone 7.8 and not Windows Phone 8 is due to its hardware limitation including the single-core processor.

Nokia seems to have a stellar lineup of products expected to launch in 2013, across price ranges, with devices such as the Lumia 505, 510, 620, 810, 820, 822 and 920.
