Sony may unveil Xperia XZ2 smartphone at MWC 2018

Telecom company, Three’s Irish Twitter account accidentally Tweeted the name when responding to a user’s query, and the tweet has since been taken down.

It seems like Sony's next lineup of premium devices may be called the Xperia XZ2. This comes via the telecom company, Three’s Irish Twitter account, which accidentally revealed the name in response to a user’s query. The tweet has since been deleted, but the guys at Xperia Blog were able to take a screenshot before it was taken down. 

It’s possible that the phone may be unveiled at MWC 2018 alongside the Xperia XZ Pro. The Xperia XZ Pro is tipped to sport a 4K OLED display and may be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. Reports suggest that it may also feature a dual-rear camera setup and offer 128GB of onboard storage. 

Sony has already unveiled three new phones this year, namely the Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and the L2. All three were unveiled at this year’s CES. The Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra are similar as both are powered by the Snapdragon 630 SoC and run on Android Oreo. The XA2 sports a 5.1-inch screen, while the XA2 Ultra offers a 6-inch display. Both the devices are equipped with a 23MP rear camera, while the XA2 sports a single 8MP front camera, the XA2 Ultra offers a dual-front camera setup with 16MP+8MP cameras.

The Sony Xperia L2 was recently launched in India at Rs 19,990. The phone offers a 5-inch 720p display and is powered by a MediaTek MT6737T processor with 3GB of RAM. The device is backed by a 3300mAh battery and offers 32GB of onboard storage. At the back of the device is a 13MP camera, while at the front is an 8MP camera.
