Xiaomi is expected to exhibit the smartphone before the event commences and the device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 chipset.
Xiaomi is expected to showcase some new smartphones at MWC 2018 and as per a new report by the Chinese blog mobile.it168.com, the company could unveil its Mi Mix 2S before the event begins. As Xiaomi has already announced that its next flagship smartphone will be running on Qualcomm’s latest 845 SoC, this could be the case.
Xiaomi was also expected to launch its flagship smartphone, the Mi 7 with the Snapdragon 845 processor at the MWC 2018. However, a recent report states that the company will not be doing so to avoid clashing with Samsung, who will be launching its flagship Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones at the event.
The Mi Mix 2S is supposed to be the successor to the Mi Mix 2 and is expected to sport minimum bezels and maximum display at the front. The rear and sides of the smartphone are expected to be similar to its predecessor and a leaked render of the device tips a small notch on the top right corner of the smartphone, which will reportedly house the front-facing camera. In terms of pricing, the smartphone is rumoured to go on sale in China in March this year priced at CNY 4,000 (Rs 40,200 approx).
Apart from the Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi could also launch its next-generation Surge S2 chipset at MWC 2018 in February. The chipset is said to sport an Octa-core setup with four high-performance ARM Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four efficiency cores of ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It is speculated to be a mid-range chipset manufactured on TSMC’s 16nm fabrication process. You can read more about the upcoming processor here.
