Samsung eyes the budget smartphone segment with its Tizen-based Z1. Priced at Rs. 5,700, the Z1 features dual-core processor along with 768MB of RAM.

Samsung has officially launched its Tizen-based Z1 smartphone in India. Priced at Rs. 5,700, the Z1 smartphone is available starting January 14.

The Samsung Z1 has a 4-inch WVGA PLS display. It runs Tizen 2.3 OS and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor along with 768MB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 4GB storage along with 64GB microSD support. It has 3.1MP rear camera and VGA front facing camera.

Connectivity options include dual-SIM,Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 , USB 2.0 and GPS. The smartphone is powered by a 1500 mAh battery.  The smartphone is available in three colours – white, black and wine red.

Samsung has tied up with Reliance to offer 500MB of 3G data free every month for up to six months. Samsung  has also teamed up with Aircel.

Samsung's Tizen smartphone is set to compete against a wide range of budget Android smartphones such as the Android One phones, Zenfone 4 and Redmi 1S. It's worth pointing out here that Samsung has of late been pushing its Tizen OS to other platforms apart from smartphones. At the recently held CES, the company showed off Tizen based Smart TVs.
