Samsung resumes roll-out of Android 8.0 Oreo for Galaxy S8, S8 Plus
Samsung halted the Android 8.0 Oreo roll out for the two smartphones last week as some of the units started rebooting randomly. The new update comes with build numbers G950FXXU1CRB7 and G955XXU1CRB7 for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ respectively.
About a week earlier, Samsung halted the Android 8.0 Oreo update for its Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones as they caused random reboot issues on some handsets. Now the company has resumed rolling out the update with build numbers G950FXXU1CRB7 and G955XXU1CRB7 for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ respectively, claims a SamMobile report. The update is said to be resumed in Germany and will be soon available for all users globally. The february security patch is also included in the update.
Earlier, the Oreo update for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus was halted mere hours after rollout. Samsung said that some units of the smartphones started to reboot randomly and the issue affected both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ in “a limited number of cases”. As the update was not seeded globally, the problem was limited to some regions only like India and a few European and Middle Eastern countries.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus (review) are the company’s first smartphones to get the Android Oreo update. The Oreo beta update for them rolled out in November last year and was being tested for quite some time before the stable version began rolling out, which was, as we know, halted.
A previously leaked firmware file for the Galaxy Note 8 tipped at the company’s smartphones, which might soon receive the Android Oreo upgrade. The XML list was discovered while digging through the framework-res file of the unreleased firmware and reveals names of Samsung smartphones and tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SM-T355 (gt58lte) and many more.
