Samsung reportedly showcased the foldable Galaxy X phone to clients privately at CES 2018. The company plans to launch the phone later this year under the Galaxy Note series.

The rumours about Samsung launching a foldable phone gained new ground when the Korean giant revealed the phone at a private meeting with clients during the recently concluded CES 2018.

The phone reportedly has a fold-in-fold-out design. The phone, rumoured to be called the Samsung Galaxy X, has an in-folding curvature of 1R(0.1 mm) while the out-folding curvature has a 5 radius of curvature. The news about the exhibit at CES was broken by ET news, a South Korean website that stated, “Samsung Display said it has developed a 7.3-inch foldable panel with plans to start production later this year.”

We have seen multiple patent filings by the company in the recent past leading up to the launch. Even during the Galaxy S8 (review) launch last year, Samsung Mobile’s head DJ Koh said the company was aiming to develop a foldable phone under its Galaxy Note series as early as 2018.

The phone was also reportedly displayed at last year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in a closed-door meeting. The version displayed to clients at CES is reportedly an upgraded version.

Samsung launched a flurry of smart electronic devices including a 168-inch 4K television, smart appliances and more. The company also confirmed the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 will be launched at MWC 2018 in February in Barcelona
