Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, A8 Lite spotted on 3C certification site with fast charging support as launch draws near

The Galaxy A8 Star and A8 Lite smartphones could come with fast charging support of up to 9.0V output at 1.67A (15W) alongside regular 5.0V at 2.0A (10W) charging.

Recently, we came across the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, which was spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification website. Now, the smartphone has popped up on the 3C Certification Site, along with a version called the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star Lite. As per a 5gmobilephone report, the Galaxy A8 Star and Galaxy A8 Star Lite feature model numbers SM-G8850 and SM-G8750, respectively. The new sighting on the 3C website reveals the charging capabilities of the devices. Both smartphones are tipped to features fast charging support with up to 9.0V output at 1.67A (15W) and standard charging 5.0V at 2.0A (10W). There are no other details regarding the specs of the smartphones but they are expected to launch on May 21 in China.

As mentioned earlier, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star was previously spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification website, indicating that the device can be launched globally. Some specs of the smartphone were revealed on TENAA and as per the listing, the smartphone is rumoured to feature a 6.3-inch FHD+ Infinity Display and could be powered by the Exynos 7885 or the Snapdragon 660 SoC. It could sport a 16MP + 24MP dual-rear camera setup and come with 4GB or 6GB RAM, coupled with 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone may be backed a 3700mAh battery and will likely be launched running on Android Oreo. 

The new Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is speculated to be a successor or upgrade to the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018), which was launched earlier this year in India at Rs 32,999. The Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) a 6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with a 2220 x 1080p resolution and comes with a dual front-facing camera. It is powered by the company’s Exynos 7885 octa-core SoC with 6GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. The device features a 16MP+8MP dual front-camera setup and is equipped with a single 16MP rear camera with a f/1.7 aperture lens.

In terms of connectivity, the handset comes with Bluetooth 5.0 (LE), Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC, and sports a USB Type-C port with fast charging support. It is powered by a 3500mAh battery and is IP68 water and dust-resistant as well. You can read our review of the Galaxy A8 Plus (2018) here.
