HIGHLIGHTS

The phone is expected to launch June this year, unlike upgraded version the LG V30 which will make its debut at MWC next week.

LG has already confirmed that the company’s next flagship will be a little late and won’t be launched at MWC which starts next week. A new report by VentureBeat now claims that the device might get launched around June this year and won’t be called the G7. While the phone does not have a name yet, the report by Evan Blass suggests that the device currently has a code name ‘Judy’. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, which could be coupled with a 4GB RAM along with 64GB of storage. However, we can expect an ‘S’ or ‘Plus’ model of the phone to launch alongside, offering more storage and RAM.

On the camera front, the device may carry forward the dual camera setup at the rear with glass optical elements and a high aperture of f/1.6. Judy is supposed to feature an all-new display technology called MLCD+, which consumes 35% less battery than regular IPS LCD panels. The sub-pixel arrangement on these displays will be RGBW aka Red-Green-Blue-White. The device is suggested to feature a 6.1-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 800 nits brightness. While there is no news about the display resolution, we can expect LG to offer at least a similar or better resolution than its current-gen flagship.

Talking about continuing features, we can expect the next flagship from LG to offer an HDR10 compatible display and IP67/68 certification. The device may also feature wireless charging, voice recognition, a digital assistant and an AI-enabled camera. The phone is also reported to have stereo speakers which the report describes as “boombox” speaker.

A previous report suggested that the phone was initially scheduled to launch this February only but was then scrapped shifting the launch date further. Instead, the company will be launching a new upgraded version of the LG V30 at MWC this year.
