Let’s have a look at the expected iQOO Neo 7 Pro features and specifications.

Here’s the history of iQOO Neo’s gaming smartphone portfolio in India.

iQOO is set to launch the Neo 7 Pro on July 4 in India. This was recently announced by the company chief, Nipun Marya. While the phone is reportedly a rebranded iQOO Neo 7 Racing (that’s available in China) and hence we know what to expect in terms of its specs and features. Here, in particular, we go back in time and check out the gaming-centric features brought out by the brand in its Neo series so far.

History of iQOO Neo series lineage ahead of Neo 7 Pro

For the unversed, Neo covers the more-affordable offerings from iQOO.

1. iQOO’s Neo lineup started off its journey with Neo Gaming in 2019, powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. It features Multi Turbo mode which is a kind of performance booster for gaming sessions. This leverages AI, memory, and the built-in cooling mechanism. Speaking of cooling, this phone came with a dedicated heat dissipation system including a vapour chamber. Among other features, the phone also sported a 4D Game Shock 2.0 (for haptics), and anti-Bluelight eye protection (for long-time use).

2. The successor, named Neo 855, brought Snapdragon 855 processor, Game Magic Box + Game Space 2.5 (for software optimizations), and a liquid cooling setup.

3. Besides the aforementioned features, the Neo 855 Racing Edition brought an upgraded Snapdragon 855+ chipset and a 10-layer heat dissipation solution.

4. Neo 3 5G in 2020 felt like a step up from its precursor as it carried a 144Hz refresh rate display, Snapdragon 865 5G processor, up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, 44W fast charging support, and an "11-layer" heat dissipation mechanism.

5. The following year, the brand launched Neo 5 series which updated the processor to SD888 and added an independent Display Chip Pro, which prioritized gaming at high frames while ensuring efficiency. The repertoire also consisted of MEMC (for smoother frames), and a new heat dissipation solution made of rare earth materials with high thermal conductivity.

6. Apart from the usual upgrades, a key highlight of iQOO Neo 6 (China) was a small fan accessory called the iQoo Extreme Wind Cooling Back Clip Pro. It was attached to the back of the phone using dual USB-C ports and was propped to control the phone temperature while gaming and other demanding tasks.

7. The Neo 7 came armed with motion controls including leaning, lifting, and pressing movements in Ultra Game Mode, using the phone’s accelerometer and gyroscope. There is a 300Hz touch sampling rate, 1200Hz instant mode, a 7,518mm square graphite 3D cooling system, and more.

And finally, on July 4, we will know what the Neo 7 Pro has in store for us. If this is in fact a rebadged iQOO Neo 7 Racing Edition, then it may bring a dedicated chip for managing a smoother display refresh rate, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, 120W fast charging support, etc.
