iOS 18 could go big on AI: Here’s what we expect

With all major smartphone companies being on top of their games, Apple doesn’t want to stay behind. Currently, Apple is working on another iOS update and we hear on the grapevine that it is going to be the biggest update ever. iOS 18 is being highly awaited and a Bloomberg report reveals that this could be “one of the biggest iOS updates — if not the biggest — in the company’s history.” But what will this update include and what can we expect? Read along to know it all.

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, we can expect a lot with iOS 18. He said, “Apple’s head of software engineering, Craig Federighi, told employees last year that the OS — codenamed Crystal — will have ambitious changes all around,” Gurman reports.

What can we expect with iOS 18?

Coming to the new features. We could get a more improved version of the personal assistant Siri. It is expected to get more intelligent and could even use a new AI system that incorporates large language model technology.

On the Messages app, AI will be integrated too, and will be able to field questions and even auto-complete your sentences. AI seems to be the centre of the upgrade on iOS 18. Apple Music could also incorporate AI features that will auto-generate playlists.

On the work front, artificial intelligence will also be incorporated with your iWork apps such as Keynote and Pages. And for the developers, Apple will include AI features with Xcode too. This will help developers write new applications more swiftly.

But sadly, for now, we only know this much about the upcoming iOS 18. We can expect the new update to drop in June this year during the WWDC.
