Essential Phone launched in new Halo Gray variant with Alexa-app pre-installed
HIGHLIGHTS

The Essential Phone is now available in a new "Halo Gray" colour variant exclusively on Amazon and comes with Alexa app pre-installed.

The Essential Phone may not have sold as many units as it would have liked, but that didn’t stop the Andy Rubin-owned company to roll out three new colour variants of the phone that will be released on Essential’s own website. In addition to that, Essential will also roll out a “Halo Gray” variant exclusively for Amazon, which also comes with Amazon Alexa support out of the box.

Amazon, which is a primary sales channel for the company as well as an investor, will be selling the new colour variant. The phone has a matte finish of the “Stel Gray” colour it released earlier along with a natural titanium-like silver look of the band on the current white colour variant of the Essential phone.

Apart from the unique colour, the new variant will also include Amazon Alexa app out of the box. It’s still removable though and considering the rising popularity of Alexa-enabled smart gadgets, it could be a welcome move by the consumers of the phone.

TechCrunch also reported that the report by IDC about Essential having sold just 90,000 units worldwide in the first six months is not true. According to Essential President Niccolo De Masi, the number is definitely in six figures and "certainly weren’t in the five figures.”

The publication also reported that more accessories are in the pipeline.
