Chinese smartphone maker, Meizu, announced the launch of its entry-level m2 smartphone in India on Monday, due on October 12. It will be Meizu’s fourth device in the country, having previously released the m1 Note, m2 Note, and MX5.

The Meizu m2 sports a polycarbonate unibody design, and features a 5-inch 720p HD display with Asahi Dragontrail glass protection. Powering the device is a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 SoC with four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.3GHz, and a Mali-T720 GPU along with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It packs in a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor for the primary camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device comes with 16GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD cards.

The phone has a dual-SIM configuration with support for 4G FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE network types. Other connectivity options include 802.11 n/g/b/a WiFi with dual band support, Bluetooth 4.0 and a micro-USB port. Location services are provided through GPS, A-GPS, and GLONASS. The Meizu m2 includes an array of sensors ranging from hall effect sensor, gravity sensor, IR proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and digital compass. The phone is 8.7mm thick, weighs 131 grams and packs in a 2500mAh battery. It runs Meizu’s proprietary Flyme OS 4.5, layered on top of Android Lollipop v5.1.

“By launching the m2 in India, Meizu is committed to setting the benchmark for customer satisfaction by offering them the best technology, design and superior user experience integrated into one unit- The Meizu m2,” the company said in a press release. The Meizu m2 was initially launched in China in July for CNY 599 (Rs. 6,200 approx.). However, the company is yet to disclose how much the device will cost in India. In China, the phone is available in White, Grey, Blue and Pink colour variants.

Meizu made its debut in India with the m1 Note, featuring a 5.5-inch display with FHD resolution. It was followed by the MX5 and the m2 Note in August. The company has recently launched its latest flagship, the Meizu Pro 5 in China.
