Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer Asus has announced that it will soon be manufacturing its latest smartphone, the Asus ZenFone 3 Max, in India. Asus plans to manufacture the new device at its Daman facility, and production is slated to begin in December 2016. This will be Asus’ third smartphone to be manufactured in India, after the ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone Go that went into production last year.

“Besides our headquarters, Taiwan, India is amongst the most important markets for us and we are constantly looking to strengthen our presence and operations in the country. We are excited to announce another smartphone that will be manufactured locally, apart from Zenfone 2 Laser and ZenFone Go. India is on its way to becoming a world leader in mobile phone manufacturing and we are proud to contribute to such a dynamic economy.” said Peter Chang, Region Head, South Asia and Country Manager for Asus India.

Launched in India just a few weeks ago, the Asus ZenFone 3 Max comes in two variants, which differ in terms of display, memory and SoC. The 5.2-inch variant is powered by a Cortex-A53 quad-core processor clocked at 1.25 GHz. The device comes in two models, one with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, the other with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash, along with a 5MP front facing camera.

The 5.5 inch ZenFone 3 Max is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, clocked at 1.4GHz. The device comes in three variants, differing in RAM each with 32GB internal memory. The camera setup includes a 16 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection and laser autofocus, and a dual-LED (dual tone) flash, while the front camera is an 8MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture.

Both the 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch variants run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, and are equipped with a 4100 mAh lithium-polymer battery. The memory storage on both devices can be expanded to 256 GB.
