Apple might launch iPhone SE 2 in the first half of 2018: Reports
HIGHLIGHTS

According to reports, Apple is readying to launch a second generation iPhone SE which will retain the same 4-inch form factor and mid-range pricing like its predecessor.

As per reports emerging from China, Apple may be readying a second generation iPhone SE for those who prefer a device with a compact form factor.

While Apple is largely expected to retain the new iPhone X design for its 2018 flagships, China Mobile reports that the Cupertino-based tech giant might be planning a mid-cycle iPhone launch and introduce a new iPhone SE model in the first half of 2018.

The second-gen iPhone SE is expected to sport the older iPhone design with a physical home button. The iPhone SE 2 is also said to retain its 4-inch screen size and come with upgraded specs such as Apple’s new A10 processor. The smartphone is also expected to feature TouchID and instead of adopting the new dual-camera trend, it might only have a single primary camera. It is also not expected to be a bezel-less device akin to Apple’s current flagship smartphone.

Apple has started manufacturering the iPhone SE in India, given its popularity amongst users who prefer a smaller form factor. The first-gen iPhone SE currently sells for Rs 21,859 for the 32GB version in India. What’s interesting to note is that the iPhone SE 2 is expected to bear the same mid-range pricing as its predecessor when Apple launches it in the first half of next year. It is believed that the device will cost around $450 (Rs 29,265 directly converted).

A recent investor note from acclaimed Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo claimed that the company will be launching three new iPhone models in 2018. Kuo states that Apple is expected to introduce two OLED models and one LCD model featuring a design similar to the iPhone X in 2018.
