Twitter reportedly testing notifications for embedding of tweets

Soon users may get notifications for embedding of tweets.

Twitter is reportedly testing a new feature that gives notifications on embedding of your tweets by others. It’s notable Twitter currently allows users to embed tweets onto websites, but does not show notifications on embedding of tweets, unlike replies and mentions. Some users spotted the feature in testing over the weekend.

Security expert Mikko Hypponen at F-Secure was among first to spot the feature, which is dubbed as “Embedded on these websites”. The feature shows the list of websites where the tweet has been embedded. According to reports, the feature appeared briefly over the weekend and was taken down later. However, some screenshots of the feature were taken and posted by various users and websites.

The screenshots show the list of sites where tweet has been embedded below the information such as retweets, favorites and time etc. The list shows the site’s name in bold and the content title next to that.

Twitter has been working to increase user engagement on the network as well as boost revenues. It recently started testing geo-targeted ads for retailers. This means brands can show promoted tweets to users who mobile apps within a proximity of their retail stores.

Twitter recently updated its new #Music update for iOS users. The new #Music app update adds genre categorization under the revamped charts section. It has made it easier for users to surf through a wide range of genres like Alternative, Dance, Country, Folk, Electronic, Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B, Metal and Rock.
