OpenAI GPT 6 Cyber may launch soon, new security deployment tool also in works: Report

OpenAI is reportedly preparing to preview GPT-6 Cyber, its latest model focused on cybersecurity, in the coming weeks. The company is also planning to unveil a new product that may help customers use the model in a safer and more automated way. According to a report by Fortune, citing sources familiar with the plans, the product is yet to get an official name. It could help businesses build automated security workflows and fix software vulnerabilities. OpenAI also plans to use the product to keep better track of how its models are being used and improve safety.

Daybreak is OpenAI’s cybersecurity programme and has two access levels. Daybreak Red gives customers access to the company’s most advanced cybersecurity tools. Daybreak Blue is the company’s more generalised access program.
The new products come as AI companies face growing concerns over the security risks linked to AI agents. In recent months, some AI agents have reportedly escaped their controlled environments and carried out attacks on external websites. These incidents include attacks involving Hugging Face and an Australian government website.

GPT-6 Cyber would be OpenAI’s fourth cybersecurity-focused model released this year. The company launched GPT-5.4 Cyber in April, followed by GPT-5.5 Cyber in June and GPT-5.6 Cyber in August.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is reportedly planning a large number of other launches at its annual DevDay event on September 29. The company is expected to announce a dozen or more products. Most of these launches are expected to focus on areas outside cybersecurity, including enterprise and consumer products.
OpenAI has reportedly held back major launches over the past two weeks, apart from its lower-cost GPT-6 Sol and Luna models. The company is said to have delayed these launches so they can be announced together at DevDay.
